About

To truly become a better programmer, you have to cultivate passion for everything else that goes on around programming.

You won’t– you cannot— become a better programmer through sheer force of programming alone. You can only complement and enhance your existing programming skills by branching out. Learn about your users. Learn about the industry. Learn about your business.

The more things you are interested in, the better your work will be.

    Sorry to contact you here… couldn’t figure out any other way!
    First, let me say I love your passion for quality code. Sometimes I feel pretty alone in that call, so it’s great to see someone else standing up for it!
    Second, I saw you found a solution for previewing “.msg” files when the comctl32.dll version is wrong:

    Your comment there doesn’t actually have the content of the app.manifest it took to get it working. Could you possibly forward that to me sometime? I’m sure I could figure it out (and will eventually), but this is for a side project, not my 9-5. And I’ve got toddlers. 🙂

      Hi John,

      the solution is to have this piece of code inside your app’s manifest:

      <!– Enable themes for Windows common controls and dialogs (Windows XP and later) –>
      <dependency>
      <dependentAssembly>
      <assemblyIdentity
      type="win32"
      name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
      version="6.0.0.0"
      processorArchitecture="*"
      publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"
      language="*"
      />
      </dependentAssembly>
      </dependency>
